When it's in the blood...

While growing up, photography seemed to be ever-present in our household. My father was an avid hobbyist, so upon reflection it was only natural that I would follow in his footsteps. As such, my own journey into the photographic arts would begin in a photography interest group at the age of 9 while tucked away in the Okanagan at summer camp. Now hooked, I would often join my father in our basement darkroom, always fascinated by the images that magically appeared from the blank paper under the glow of the red safelight.

I truly love the realistic expressionism of this medium, and how widely varied the results can be depending on the personality of the artist. As I continued in my journey, I quickly came to realize that it was all about the people I was capturing on film, and that commercial product photography held very little interest for me. Now that the digital age has arrived, I've fully embraced all that the technology has to offer, from the endless creative possibilities to the ability I now have to offer a wider range of products and services.

My approach to photography is a combination of the traditional style that I cut my teeth on and today's candid styling, resulting in a very natural but photojournalistic look to my work. To me, being a photographer is not, and has never been just about a job, it is who I am. It is my passion. There is nothing more satisfying than to watch my clients' reaction when they have their first glimpse at their photos as they relive the warmth and love of the moment in time they celebrated. I'm proud to boast that my business is celebrating 26 wonderful years, and that the majority of my bookings stem from referrals by satisfied clients, many of whom I now have the honour to call friends.

I've been blessed to have previously had the opportunity to photograph Weddings, Bar Mitzvahs and Events across Canada, the United States and Mexico... needless to say, I am currently accepting bookings for destination photography. For further information, please inquire.
